COMALA CLAY LAMPS
DESCRIPTION
Handcrafted clay lamps by Carlos Vázquez Ruckstuhl, a visual artist and industrial designer from Mexico City now based in Oaxaca. With training in industrial design and a practice deeply rooted in manual craftsmanship, Carlos creates objects where formal structure and materials are the true protagonists.
Each COMALA lamp expresses ancestral Oaxacan techniques in harmony with contemporary design. The clay bodies are carefully crafted by Irene and her family in San Marcos Tlapazola, while blacksmith Benjamin creates the metal components. Every piece is hand-assembled by Carlos in Oaxaca. Features low-temperature fired clay, matte black metal support, and a warm 55W LED bulb. A statement lighting piece that honors traditional craftsmanship and modern aesthetics—perfect for those who value artisanal quality and cultural heritage.
