"OESTRUS" CLAY BY ROSITA RELÁMPAGO

Rosita Relámpago (Mexico City, 1994) is a visual artist and graduate of the Instituto Universitario de Bellas Artes at the Universidad de Colima. Based in Oaxaca, Mexico since 2018, she weaves together a profound relationship between the body, materials, and ancestral cosmologies. Through a sensitive and visionary lens, she reveals how she has forged a deep connection with nature through artistic explorations spanning multiple disciplines.

Her work bridges ancestral and contemporary symbols, inviting profound dialogue with the environment and cultural identity. She explores the possibilities of formal transformation, the container as form, and its relationship to the body—creating pieces that challenge how we perceive sculptural space and materiality.

DESCRIPTION

The piece is handcrafted using clay from Santa María Atzompa, fired in a traditional wood-burning kiln at low temperature with reduction techniques.
